Kota emerged as the hottest city in Rajasthan on Monday, recording a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius. The capital city Jaipur experienced temperatures higher than desert districts such as Barmer and Jodhpur, leaving residents struggling under relentless heat and scorching sunlight.
The Meteorological Department has issued Orange and Yellow heatwave alerts for 19 districts on Tuesday. Daily life has been severely affected due to strong hot winds and extreme daytime temperatures. Severe heatwave conditions persisted throughout the day in Jaisalmer and Bikaner during the first day of Nautapa, while residents in Hanumangarh and Alwar faced discomfort from hot winds continuing through the night.
Several cities, including Chittorgarh, Pilani and Alwar, recorded temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius. Authorities have warned people to remain cautious as intense sunlight and dry winds continue to impact normal activities across the state.
However, relief from the intense heat is expected from May 27 and 28 as a Western Disturbance becomes active over the region. Weather conditions are likely to change significantly in the coming days. A Yellow alert has been issued for dust storms and light rainfall in 16 districts. The weather department has also warned of possible hailstorms in some areas.
Tuesday marks the second day of Nautapa, a period traditionally associated with the year’s most intense summer conditions. With temperatures soaring and heatwave conditions intensifying across Rajasthan, the administration remains on alert as changing weather patterns may bring temporary relief after days of relentless heat.
